Suno setup — Set up Suno for custom breathwork pacing in 10 minutes

Standard meditation tracks often dictate a pace that conflicts with your actual respiratory rate. By generating your own audio beds, you control the tempo, instrumentation, and duration required for specific autonomic states. This configuration turns a generic listening experience into a precise tool for the Protocol layer of your health stack.

Before you start

  • A free or paid Suno account.
  • A target breathwork ratio (e.g., 5-5 box breathing).
  • Headphones for testing spatial audio quality.

The steps

  1. 01

    Define your target tempo

Convert your breathing protocol into beats per minute. For a 5-second inhale and 5-second exhale, you need a tempo of 60 BPM with clear structural markers to guide the phase changes.

  2. 02

    Draft the instrumental prompt

Toggle on Suno's custom mode to bypass lyrical generation. In the style box, specify the genre, BPM, and instrumentation. Use terms like 'ambient drone, 60 BPM, sparse Tibetan bowls, deep synth pads, no percussion, steady rhythm.'

  3. 03

    Generate and evaluate the timing

Run the prompt and review the output variations. Focus entirely on the timing predictability rather than the aesthetic quality. Count your breath ratio against the track to ensure the musical phrasing aligns with your physiological target.

  4. 04

Extend the track for session length

Suno generates short clips by default. Select the variation that maintains a steady rhythm and use the 'Extend' feature to build a 10-minute or 20-minute track suitable for a complete physiological reset.

  5. 05

Export for practice or client use

Download the completed audio file. You can load this into your personal meditation library, or if you manage clients, overlay your own guided vocal cues in standard audio software without managing licensing restrictions.

Honest note

Suno struggles to maintain strict metronomic precision over long durations and will occasionally introduce unexpected melodic shifts. It cannot replace clinically validated biofeedback tools for exact heart rate variability training.
