Set up Reflect as a private health ledger in 10 minutes
Configure end-to-end encrypted daily notes to track symptoms, protocols, and clinical transcripts.

Standard note applications expose your medical transcripts and symptom logs to server-side scraping. Reflect offers end-to-end encryption combined with a built-in AI assistant, allowing you to synthesize sensitive health data without compromising privacy. This guide configures it as the central repository for your daily health inputs.
Before you start
- A Reflect account
- The Reflect desktop or mobile application
- 10 quiet minutes
The steps
- 01
Secure your encryption key
Reflect relies on end-to-end encryption to keep your data private from the start. Navigate to your settings and generate a recovery key. Store this key in a secure password manager. If you lose it, your health notes are permanently inaccessible.
- 02
Establish the Ledger layer tags
Your daily notes act as the Ledger layer in the Research-Ledger-Protocol method. Create dedicated backlink tags for specific symptoms, supplements, and lab results. This structure ensures that a passing mention of fatigue in your daily journal automatically connects to a master symptom page for later review.
- 03
Build a daily health template
Open the templates menu and create a new daily format. Include headers for sleep metrics, current supplement dosages, and subjective energy levels. Applying this template each morning standardizes your data collection and gives the AI a clean structure to analyze later.
- 04
Configure custom AI prompts for weekly review
Reflect allows you to save custom AI instructions. Create a prompt titled Weekly Health Synthesis that instructs the model to extract sleep patterns and symptom triggers from the past seven days of notes. Run this prompt on a dedicated weekly review page to identify correlations.
- 05
Connect protocols to daily observations
Whether managing your own condition or working with a client, create a distinct page for the active intervention. Link your daily journal entries directly to this protocol page. This connects the daily execution of a health plan with the overarching clinical strategy.
Honest note
Reflect uses a standard language model for its AI features, which can hallucinate correlations between unrelated symptoms if prompted poorly. The strict encryption also prevents automated API integrations with dedicated health dashboards, meaning your data remains siloed and requires manual review. Never use the AI assistant to diagnose a condition or replace a qualified physician.
