Two months out of beta, Town closed a $55 million Series A led by Justine Moore at Andreessen Horowitz. Co-founders Jean-Denis Greze (ex-Plaid CTO) and Tony Vincent (ex-Google applied AI) are shipping named assistants — 'Townies' — that ingest inbox, calendar, chat and notes and draft the next action. Individual plans run $15–$199/mo, teams $59/seat. The interesting signal is not the round: it is that two Townies at Forerunner Ventures completed a support-work handoff end-to-end, human at the edge.
The take: the personal-assistant layer just got real. What matters is not the aesthetic — though the bunnies and wombats are unusually well-designed — it is that a Townie can pass work to another Townie and hand the finished thing back to two humans to sign off. That is the loop the last decade of assistant products failed to close.
